Common Forum and Front

SAA consults with the arts community to develop goals and articulates them to government, business and the public. Consultation occurs through SAA communication services and community meetings.

Arts Planning and Development

SAA organizes arts community meetings to discuss issues, formulate strategies and develop plans of action. These meetings provide an opportunity for the entire arts community to pool resources, both human and financial, reducing the burden on individual organizations. The meetings also provide the community with information on SAA activities, including interagency discussions.

Interagency Planning and Development

SAA assists government and its agencies in development of visions, priorities and goals. Through SAA initiatives, government and its agencies have access to a collective community voice.

Representation

On request and when appropriate, SAA responds to member requests for support, and acts on their behalf as an interested and informed third party in negotiations, debates and conflicts with other sectors of society.

Advocacy

SAA advocacy promotes establishment of arts policies and support measures that foster a healthy environment for artists and the arts. Advocacy efforts include recognition by politicians, government and public of the importance of arts in society and the protection of artist rights and freedoms. SAA works with government and other parties that support and encourage the arts.

SAA ensures representation of Saskatchewan arts and artists by sending nominations and recommendations to Canada Council, Canadian Conference of the Arts, Saskatchewan Arts Board, and (in partnership with SaskCulture) Tourism Saskatchewan. SAA supports its membersą advocacy efforts by providing professional development, support information, analysis and research.
